Top 300 Movies Of All Time: #252 "A NIGHT TO REMEMBER" (1958)

The trailer does no justice to this movie version. It is a bit "forensic" in its telling, to borrow a Gloria Stuart line. This is great British ensemble casting. It is based on the Walter Lord account of the tragedy.

This is great ensemble acting from England. Compelling, accurate and well realized.

James Cameron may deny it, but he clearly lifted characterizations from this version for his later account. There is no single defining moment in this account and it certainly lacks the production values of its future counterpart, but it is powerful in in its casuality. Highly recommended.
